Lost and Found, Gifts, Reading over the Break and Inclement Weather-December 13, 2016

Thank you

As I reflect back on 2016, I am thankful that I get to spend my days with your children.  I love their stories, observations and energy.  I can’t wait to hear about what they’ve read or done when they return on January 3.  Have a great break!

Over your winter break, I hope that you have many opportunities to find quiet moments to enjoy a book with your child. Listen to books on tape as you travel.  During and following your adventures, talk about what you are doing.  Whether it’s playing in snow on the mountain, watching waves at the beach or just enjoying the lights on your street, there are interesting things to talk about.  Visit the library ( or browse the bookstores for more things to talk about.

Weather Related Delays and Closures

If weather creates unsafe travel conditions, school bus routes may change, school may be delayed, close early or be closed all day.  Check out the info at the link below for more information.

If there is a 2-hour delay, supervision at Sexton Mt. will begin in the cafeteria at 10:05am.  Students will go to class at 10:25am and instruction will begin at 10:30am.    If buses are on snow routes, there will be no service for Bus 163.

Lost and Found

Many students have similar jackets or coats.  Remember to put first and last name in your child's jackets.  At home, check to make sure your child has the correct jacket.  Have your child check the Lost and Found to see if items are there.

Sexton Mt. employees work hard for the success of every child. Thank you for telling staff when you appreciate their effort.  Your words are TREASURED. The media would have us believe that the season of gift giving (in order to show appreciation) is upon us.   Please remember that school employees are public officials and therefore ethics laws regarding gifts apply.  In order to avoid both potential and actual conflicts of interests, employees must abide by ethics rules*, Board policy defines gift as anything of economic value (including baked goods and coffee) so we encourage families to write a kind note rather than give gifts.

*During a calendar year, a public employee, may not receive any gift or gifts with an aggregate value in excess of $50 from any single source.
